Screencasting allows you to create videos and capture what is on your computer screen. Using Jing, I created my own screencast. Click here to view the screencast I created demonstrating how to play a new computer game for my kindergarten class.

Uses in the classroom: Screencasting can be used in many capacities. It is a great tool for teachers to demonstrate how to use a computer program or navigate online resources. Students could use screencasting to demonstrate what they have learned about a computer program or online resource. If students were to create a screencast, they would reach one of the highest levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. They would have to plan and produce work showing what they have learned.

Issues to consider: When using screencasting, be sure to use appropriate and precise language. This includes making sure students will understand what is being explained to them. Also, make sure movements made on the computer are clear for students to follow. Don't go too fast. These same considerations should be made when students are creating screencasts.
